Gliffaes Country House Hotel

near Crickhowell

This is where we stayed during the first part of our journey.

The garden is beautiful - created with an eye for detail as well as effect on a large scale.

Some of the mature trees are truly stunning.

Our little toy car underneath a Cedar of Lebanon.

Clusters of small gentian violets grow underneath  this tree-threesome.

Peter particularly liked this group. 

The pond.

This rhubarb-type thing in the foreground is about 4 feet tall...

... and the pampas-grass measures between 6 and 8 feet in height.

The lawn is manicured to zero height. It is so dense, it looks almost like boiled wool.

So much for the garden. But this is not all.

Gliffaes is a large estate with hillside and a valley.

 The river Usk is flowing through parts of it and a lovely walk was created alongside the river.
