Penally Abbey
Penally is a smallish village on a hillside near Tenby.
This is what's left of the old Abbey
Penally Abbey - The Hotel
Drawing room
View from the drawing room into the garden
The windows by themselves are quite a feature!

Opposite the Abbey a renovated cottage
which is part of the hotel.
Parking the car here demands surgical precision.
The lane up the hill is very narrow and there are quite unforgiving walls on either side.
Another view from our hotel room
If I should say,
what was best about Penally Abbey, my answer would be:
The food.
The lady of the house does the cooking herself.
She produces gourmet cuisine of great variety with lovely, inventive touches.
Quite outstanding!
Then there is the interior in the main building.
It is simply a feast for the eyes.
The views are quite something as well.
From how many hotel rooms
can one see
part of the hillside,
a garden with palm-trees,
an ancient ruin -
and the ocean?
That must be a tough act to follow.
